Last month, in partnership with Malarkey Roofing Products we held our first Fastest Shingler in the West competition. After participating in competitions at each region in the BC, the regional winners converged on the Convoy Coquitlam branch to see who was the fastest. Each competitor had to nail down Malarkey shingles as fast as they could on a 4’x 8’ deck using Bissett Nail guns. Each competitor was timed with penalties taken for nail placement, cuts, and shingle alignment.
The winner, Nelson Friesen of Northern Sky Roofing from Kelowna, was one cool customer despite the heat as he nailed down shingles effortlessly and expertly. He even beat his original winning time out of the BC Interior region where he won first place to qualify for the finals. In addition to being able to call himself the Fastest Shingler in all of BC, Nelson won the chance to travel down to Las Vegas for the North American Finals at the Western Roofing Expo in 2024. We wish Nelson good luck at the NA Finals in Vegas but after watching his performance in Coquitlam, we don’t know if he’ll need it!
