Eariler this month we partnered with Malarkey Roofing Products and Bissett Fasteners to host our second annual Fastest Shingler in the West competition.
Five finalists from our regional BC competitions gathered at the Convoy Surrey branch to see who could nail down their Malarkey Shingles on a 4’ x 8’ roof the fastest using Bissett nail guns. Each competitor took part in two rounds, and final scores were determined by the average of their times from both rounds.
Our winner, for the second year in a row, was Nelson Friesen of Northern Sky Roofing in Kelowna. Nelson’s impressive time of 2 minutes and 41 seconds will earn him a trip to Vegas in September to compete in The Roofing Games at the Western Roofing Expo. Nelson was crowned fastest shingler at the Vegas finals last year, and we wish him luck in taking home the win for BC again this year.
It was a close race for second and third place. Samuel Couture from Mack Kirk Roofing in the Lower Mainland secured second place with a time of 3:24, followed by Toby Brunnmeier also from Northern Sky Roofing, finishing third with a time of 3:27. Just a 3 second difference!
